Writers’ Lab: Business of Film webinar for writers of television screenplays
FilmTT collaborates with ExporTT and TTT to present its final 2020 Business of Film webinar which will focus on writers of television screenplays. On November 26, FilmTT will feature presenters with local and international experience in the television industry.
Horace Wilson, the esteemed writer of the Caribbean’s most memorable television series “No Boundaries (39 episodes) and Turn of the Tide (13 episodes)” will provide attendees with essential screenwriting methods as a solid foundation for memorable stories. Horace’s career in television spanned beyond his local accomplishments taking him to the international arena, where he wrote and produced multiple features. Some of these include SINNERS NEED COMPANY, which was sold to Lifetime and scores of countries; and PAN, which won Third Prize in the Page Awards screenwriting competition from more than 7,000 entries. The script has been optioned by a production company in Los Angeles.
Diane Robertson is a broadcast television, film production and multimedia professional with twenty (20) years of international industry experience. As the current Head of Television Programming at state media house TTT, Diane will provide attendees with insight on the process of TV Programming and pilot acquisitions. Her international career spanned the US market - where her roles were integral in Programming, Traffic and On-Air Promotions, Studio Production, Promotional Scriptwriting, On-Air promotions, Community Engagement and On-Air Voice Talent. Ms Robertson’s experience in vetting local programs and working with local producers to enhance and bring their approved projects to fruition is sure to remain an important asset to the local industry.

Shari Petti (Director of Jump & Sorf Hair) and Gervail Lemo (Comedian & Content creator) will talk about their entrepreneurial journeys, provide tips and insights to encourage and inspire other young professionals:

Shari Petti has worked on numerous film productions in her country and abroad. Her film Sorf Hair, which explores the natural hair experience in Trinidad and Tobago, has screened at several film festivals across the globe, including the Caribbean Tales International Film Festival in Canada, The Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival, The Pan African Film Festival and was nominated for & won several awards. She currently curates the platform “Scene” (@scenepresents) which produces contemporary Caribbean video content focused on youth culture. She is currently pursuing an MFA at Florida State University under the Fulbright Scholarship exchange program.
Gervail Lemo ( @jrlee_socrazy ) is a creative entrepreneur who works in the entertainment industry as a comedian, host and Director/videographer. He has directed several music videos within Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean notably, Shal Marshall- Hot Gyal Soca. He’s currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing at the University of the Southern Caribbean.
